Welcome to the Barnsley Central Conservative Association.

We are a fast growing and active association in Barnsley that is committed to working hard for the town and community. We believe in progressive conservative values and support the coalition's agenda for change; for once setting aside political differences and governing in the interest of the nation rather than the party – which is a refreshing change after the last government's decade in power.

Over the last decade in Barnsley a Labour led Council and nationally a Labour government has not delivered and facilitated enough jobs and economic regeneration and the economic growth that this entails in the town.

The association will endeavour to continue to hold the council to account through our councilors and lobby the coalition government to act in the best interests for the town. We will be taking up the challenge of the 'Big Society' and over the coming months initiate and get behind social action projects for the benefit of the community.

One strong message that came out of the 2010 election is that the old style politics, in fighting and self interest which characterized the last administration is not what the vast majority of voters expect from politicians – time has moved on.

Barnsley is a great town and we want to make sure it has a great future.
